This month, PMI Educational Foundation staff and volunteers traveled to the PMI® Leadership Institute Meeting (LIM) and PMI® Global Congress 2016 – EMEA.  During LIM and congress, PMIEF delivered information to PMI Chapter leaders and global project managers on the value of leveraging project management for social good™.

PMIEF Community Engagement Committee member Walter Ginevri, who attended the Barcelona events, shared “LIM is an incomparable place to share experiences and lessons learned with project management practitioners characterized by … common attitudes: [they are] open-minded, relationship-oriented and positive-thinking.”

This spirit was present during the PMIEF educational session delivered during LIM. During the session, PMIEF Board of Directors Chair Suketu Nagrecha presented updates on the foundation’s global impact. Additionally, co-presenters Agata Czopek and Paulo Camargo discussed the importance of the local programs implemented by their chapters.

Agata Czopek, PMIEF Liaison for the PMI Poland Chapter, illustrated her chapter’s Project Management Kids’ Camp. The camp is an initiative to serve underprivileged youth with project based learning focused fun.  Meanwhile, Paulo Camargo, President, PMI Southern Alberta Chapter, shared an initiative through which chapter volunteers train nonprofit organization staff to help them build programmatic activity.

PMIEF Board of Directors member Marge Combe summed up the global collaboration opportunity.  “What most inspires me about attending a LIM meeting is hearing how many efforts are going on all over the world to take what we know best in our profession and turn it into something of great value for others. The spirit of giving back is so strong in our PMI community, and the creativity in finding ways to offer our services is amazing,” she shared.
